I went for my normal blood test monitoring at my GP's surgery yesterday and after starting on the second tube my blood stopped coming and when the nurse looked at the blood it was all pale and watery. The first tube was dark red blood. She put the needle in my other arm and the blood come and was normal. Has this happened to anyone else? I can't find anything on the internet and the nurse didn't know why. I'm a little worried as my arm that side hurt all day but is fine now.

Hello Shirley
How strange No I have not heard of this at all. I hope someone else can come on here and put your mind at rest. If not a call to your GP would be in order think

I hope they still send in the vial for testing and maybe you will get some answers. I will be wondering about this now so please let us know if you find out what caused it. I wonder if the needle moved slightly and fluid was drawn off from the inflamed joint. I know that fluid can build up with inflammation. just a thought. best wishes from Naomi.

I rang the doctors surgery and my results come back as 'no action' but i don't know if they tested the vial with the watery blood and i didn't like to bother them. I will ask next time i go to see the doctor.
